Hi, my name is Shadow and this is my site.

The idea arose from my compulsive need to find solutions to problems.  I intend this site to be a slightly humorous way for me to dispense sage (and not-so-sage) advice and wisdom on a range of topics — whether it be current events, problems of my own devising, or questions asked of me by people much like you!

Sometimes, my need to solve problems sometimes causes friction in my life when people come to me complaining about something and I erroneously take their venting as a request for advice. So hopefully this site can serve as an outlet, allowing me to ‘fix’ things without being annoying to those closest to me.

Can I really solve everything?  I’d like to think that with enough time and data, that I could absolutely solve everything.  Most of the time solutions fail because the people responsible for offering solutions do not have enough data.  But I’m well aware that my desire to solve everything is just wishful thinking; just as much, if not more-so than my desire to know everything.  It certainly won’t stop me from trying.

Ah, but you might ask … can I solve your specific problem?  Well, I most certainly can proffer a solution — it’s totally up to you whether or not you find my advice acceptable.

Now, just in case you want to know more about me, here’s some stuff:

• I am a Gemini and — true to form — sometimes I believe in astrology and sometimes I don’t.  I do, however, have a knack from seeing an issue from several angles at once;  I just waver between believing it’s fated from the stars or just a highly practiced and trained skill.
• I am a musician.  My main project, my heart and soul, is in a band called Spitting Angels although I’ve been known to dabble in other projects and collaborations from time to time.
• I also do web development and this site is only WordPress because I don’t have enough time to roll my own solution as I’ve always got several projects going.  But, of particular interest to me is UX and UI concerns and making the complex seem simple. Despite the immense knowledge I possess on this topic, this is not my day job (although I often wish it were).
• Given my interest in minimizing complexity, it probably will not surprise you that I am a huge Apple fan.  If you dislike or are ambivalent about Apple it is probably not a good idea to bring them up in conversation with me.
• I love tapioca pudding above all others.
• I think the world would be a much better place if I had a giant robot.
• I do believe sometimes that I am better than you but only because I work hard at it. But even if I think that I am better overall, you likely have some talent that I am in awe of.
• Despite the point made above, I am not a narcissist.  I am confident in my strengths, well aware of my flaws and work very hard at being the best person I can be.  I miss the mark sometimes, I make mistakes.  But I also strive to be awesome and realize that failure is something to grow and learn from so I’m not too worried.
• I can’t stop thinking.
• No, I will not do your homework for you.
